First Russian Bells Museum was opened
17 June 1995
On June 17, 1995, on the day of the 500th anniversary of Valday holidays in the architect complex of 18th century under the Palace Church in the name of the Great Martyr Saint Catherine, built under the project of architect N. A. Lvov for Empress Catherine II, was opened the first Russian Bells Museum.

Легенда связывает начало колокольного производства на Валдае с разбившимся... здесь в конце XV в. вечевым новгородским колоколом. Но то, что принято называть валдайским (то есть ямщицким... люблю, того и дарю», «Купи не скупись, езди веселись», «Сдалеча весточку собою подавай», «Кто колокол...».
В экспозиции Валдайского музея колоколов представлены материалы по колокольному литью различных стран... и коллекционерах, заводах-производителях колоколов и мастерах, делающих колокольные сувениры для музея.... А. Львова для императрицы Екатерины II, был открыт первый в России Музей колоколов.

Алексея Михайловича, из его осколков решили отлить новый, ещё больший колокол. За один год литец... гигантский колокол. Этот колокол просуществовал тоже недолго и треснул от сильного удара языка по нему.... Отлить новый колокол взамен разбитого поручили Александру Григорьеву. После отливки колокол был поднят...26 июля (6 августа) 1730 г. императрица Анна Иоанновна подписала указ об отливке Успенского большого колокола (Царь-колокола).
