December 7-8, 2016, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the Scientific Research Institute (military history) of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Federation and the Zhukov State Museum of Armed Forces carry out in Moscow the Military-Historical Forum, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Soviet counter-offensive troops against the German fascist troops near Moscow and the 120-th anniversary of Marshal Zhukov.

May 15, 2018 marks the 220th anniversary of one of the leaders of the uprising on the Senatskaya Square on December 14, 1825, a member of the secret society "Union of Prosperity", a lyceum student of the first issue Ivan Ivanovich Pushchin. "My first friend, my priceless friend! .." A. S. Pushkin wrote a poem dedicated to him. And this title of "priceless friend" the closest companion of the poet from the Lyceum times confirmed his whole life.

The All-Russian contest "The Most Readable Region" will be held for the sixth time. It was launched in the Year of Literature in Russia. Ulyanovsk (2015), Voronezh (2016), Saint-Petersburg (2017), Irkutsk (2018) and Belgorod (2019) regions have been awarded the title "Literary Flagship of Russia" in different years. A meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Year of Granin was held at the Presidential Library within the framework of the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. At the meeting, under the leadership of the President of the Russian Book Union, Sergei Stepashin, they discussed the plan of the main events to perpetuate the memory, prepare and hold celebrations of the centenary anniversary of the birth of Daniil Granin (1919–2017) in 2019.

A collection of book series “Marshals of Victory. Through the Pages of a Family Album" was donated to the Presidential Library. Each of the books presents unique archival materials about the heroes of the battles of past years - documents and photographs, almost all of them are published for the first time. The publication of the book series is a joint project of the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology and the Union of Russian Collectors All-Russian public organization.

Marking the centenary anniversary of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (Komsomol), the Presidential Library has provided a collection revealing the huge contribution of the younger generation to the formation and development of the young state. The collection presents a chronological structure and is divided into four periods: “1920s”, “1930s”, “1940s (Soviet-Finnish War, Great Patriotic War)”, “1950s-80s”.

The multimedia exhibition “Postcards of Mercy”, opened on November 12, 2018 in the Presidential Library, showcases the images of “an angel in white” which allowed soften and romanticize the harsh reality of wartime. The project is timed to the centenary anniversary of the end of the First World War and implemented jointly with the Union of Deltiologists of Russia - the All-Russian public organization of collectors and lovers of postcards.

The 30th anniversary of withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan is marked in February 2019. On February 15, 1989 at 10:30 a.m. Lieutenant General Boris Gromov, commander of the 40th Army, was the last to cross the Amu Darya River on the Soviet-Afghan border, following his soldiers. The operation intended to provide international assistance to the people of Afghanistan began on December 25, 1979 and lasted for a decade, or 3,341 days.
