Society and Culture: Exhibition “Power Engineering in Russia through Posters” mounted in Leningrad Region

The exhibition “Power Engineering in Russia through Posters” is staged in the Memorial Hall of “Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad” Diorama (Leningrad Region). The exposition showcases photocopies of posters from a unique special edition published by “Kontakt-Kultura” in 2012. The publication was presented to “Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad” Museum-Reserve. It casts light on the development of power engineering in Russia from the GOELRO Plan to the present time.

The VI scientific and practical conference "Distributed Generation - 2019. Distributed generation as the basis for the modernization of energy" will be held in the Presidential library on April 11, 2019. The focus is the consolidation of the efforts of the enterprises of the energy complex and the mining companies of Russia with the aim of the widespread introduction of distributed generation technologies based on local energy sources and renewable resources.

The Metro Gallery in Moscow (Vystavochnaya station) presents a photo exhibition in commemoration of the 210th anniversary of the Ministry of Transport of Russia. It features more than 50 archival and modern photographs, which spotlight the history of transport in Russia and major events in the transport sector. The exposition is divided into thematic sections. It will be open to visitors until November 21.

The first nuclear power plant in the world launched

On June 27, 1954 in Obninskoye village of Kaluga region, at the A. I. Laypunsky Physics and Energy Institute (Laboratory “B”) was launched the first nuclear power plant in the world equipped with one uranium and graphitic channel reactor with water heat carrier of 5 MW AM-1. This date marked the beginning of the nuclear energetics history.
