The Presidential Library and St. Petersburg Philharmonia will save the musical heritage

The Presidential Library will digitize more than 400 materials submitted by the Saint Petersburg Academic Philharmonia. Among them are the concert programs, photographs, and autographs of the great musicians. The work is carried out within the framework of the agreement concluded by the institutions in September 2017.

World libraries: Harvard Library will help preserving the Tibetan literary heritage

The Harvard Library, starting from July, will upload to the electronic catalogue of the library about 10 million pages from 100 thousand books of Tibetan literary heritage, which survived after the destruction during the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

Archives: Oral history of American Art to be preserved

As part of the federal “Save America’s Treasures” initiative to preserve significant historic properties and collections, the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art has been awarded a grant of $250,000 for the preservation and digitization of the Archives’ Oral History Collection, one of the oldest, most-consulted and historically significant oral-history collections in the country.

206 years ago, September 7 (August 26, in the Julian calendar) of 1812, the famous Battle of Borodino took place. From the historical essay "The Battle of Borodino August 26, 1812" published on the Presidential Library portal, you can find out that Napoleon called it "the battle of giants". In turn, in "The Battle of Borodino" book of 1861, I. P. Liprandi mentions about "a gigantic battle that does not represent another similar since the invention of firearms".
