September 9, 2019 marks 191 years since of birth of Leo Tolstoy, a world-famous genius Russian writer who subordinated several generations of readers in Russia and abroad to his spiritual influence. The Zemsky Sobor of 1613”, which is available on the Presidential Library’s portal, highlights the reformer of Russia and the founder of St. Petersburg.

The exhibition “We Don’t Know What Krylov Is…” will be open in the National Pushkin Museum, Green Hall (St. Petersburg) until May 31, 2019. The exhibition spotlights Ivan Krylov, who was a versatile person — fabulist, poet, journalist, librarian, publisher of satirical magazines, and writer of comedies. He was considered to be “an attraction of St. Petersburg”.

The National Library of Russia, New Building (St. Petersburg) presents an exhibition “Theatre is a Stage for Sharing a Lot of Good with the World”. The exhibition is timed to the 210th anniversary of Nikolai Gogol’s birth and the Year of Theatre in Russia and spotlights the writer’s dramatic legacy. Of particular interest are theatre booklets and programmes from different times as well as recordings of audio plays. The exhibition will be open through April 23.
