Internet and History: Roscosmos released documents on preparations to the flight of the Venera-7 spacecraft marking the 50th anniversary of its landing

On December 15, 1970, the Soviet spacecraft became the first spacecraft to soft land on the planet Venus, neighbouring to the Earth, and the first to transmit data from there back to Earth. This achievement was the result of years of work that was launched by chief designer Sergei Korolev at OKB-1 and continued by Georgy Babakin at the Lavochkin Aircraft Design Bureau.

August 15, 2015 at VDNH, Moscow, an interactive museum opened inside the layout of an orbiter "Buran BTS-001" next to the pavilion №20. The museum not only proposes to watch a film about the legendary rocket plane, but also to "pilot" its landing at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in real time.

Museums of Russia: The Chapelle pavilion opens after restoration in Tsarskoye Selo to mark the centenary of the Museum-Reserve

The Chapelle pavilion in the Alexander Park (Tsarskoye Selo) has been opened after restoration to mark the centenary of the museum-reserve. It was destroyed during the Great Patriotic War and for over 70 years it had been in terrible condition. The Chapelle pavilion is a chapel crowned with two towers built by architect Adam Menelaws. By design, one of the towers looked like it was dilapidated by time.

Internet and Science: Roscosmos publishes declassified documents about the space probe “Venera 8” for the first time

Half a century ago on July 22, 1972 a lander of the Soviet space probe Venera 8, built at the Lavochkin Research and Production Association (a part of the State Space Corporation Roscosmos) landed on Venus and transmitted data about the planet’s atmosphere, light level on its surface and the nature of Venus’ resources to scientists.
