On March 5 and 6, volunteers from all over the region, representatives of youth and children's public associations, gathered in the premises of the Murmansk State Regional Universal Scientific Library. The Russian State Library for the Youth (Moscow) invites the libraries of Russia to take part in the All-Russian competition "The Volunteer of Russia - 2018", which is running from March 19 to December 5, 2018. The Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the Russian Center for Civil and Patriotic Education of Children and the Youth, the Russian Children and Youth Center and the Volunteer Centers Association are the organizers of the competition.

From September 6 until October 28, 2018 the Museum of Moscow is running the exhibition “Romantics. Searchers. Heroes”, timed to mark the Year of the Volunteer in the Russian Federation. It is dedicated to the youth of 20th century and highlights a momentous date in the history of Russian youth organizations – the centenary of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (Komsomol), which will be marked in October.

The 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer — Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev was marked in 2018. In honour of the occasion the Serpukhov Museum of History and Art (Moscow Region) has prepared the exhibition “Artist’s Sketches. Pastels by Viktor Braginsky based on I. S. Turgenev’s Works”. Viktor Braginsky’s works highlight psychological portraits of characters from “The Hunting Sketches” - the collection of short stories by Ivan Turgenev.
