The Presidential Library to recall literary debut of Dostoevsky

On February 19, 2019 at 11:00 the Presidential Library will host the Knowledge of Russia video lecture on “The literary debut of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and his novel “The Poor Folk”” (The Life and Work of Fyodor Dostoevsky lecture series). The lecture will be delivered by the leading researcher at the Institute of Russian Literature at the Institute of Russian Literature at the Russian Academy of Sciences (Pushkin House), Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Konstantin Abrekovich Barsht. The lecture will focus on the first original printed work of the 19th century Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, written in 1844–1845 and first published on January 21, 1846 in the Petersburg Collection. During the meeting, you will learn the fascinating history of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s breakthrough into the great literature and will be able to ask the lecturer questions and participate in the discussion.

We invite you to take part in the event, ask a question or comment on the results of the lecture hall.

To participate in the event you should pass the electronic registration on the Presidential Library’s portal prior to 12:00 am, February 18, 2019. Entry to the Presidential Library is carried out strictly upon showing a passport. The admittance of participants starts at 10:00.

The event will be broadcasted live on the institution's portal in the “Live broadcasts” section and in the official group on the social network VKontakte.

“Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821–1881) (Dostoevsky’s World)” collection, which includes digital copies of the texts of the works of the great Russian writer, philosopher and journalist and materials about his life and work is available on the Presidential Library’s portal.

Accreditation of media representatives is until 12:00 am, February 18, 2019.
