The Presidential Library welcomes Cadet’s Day

The conference "Cadet Day in the Presidential Library" will be held on April 3, 2019 at 10:00 on Senate Square, 3.

The conference will focus on the history of Peter I’s decree of Russian cadets, the establishment of the Suvorov and Nakhimov schools in 1943, which was a decisive step towards the revival of the cadet education system, about the famous graduates of the cadet corps and their exploits, about the continuity of military education and its improvement at the present stage.

The conference participants will meet with Nakhimov student of the first, 1944 recruitment, Captain of 1st Rank, retired Nikolai Semenovich Senchugov - “son of a reconnaissance regiment”, participant of the defence of Leningrad, awarded the medal “For the Defene of Leningrad” in 1943. There will be also delivered a presentation by a pupil of the St. Petersburg Suvorov Military School, dedicated to two significant dates - the 220th anniversary of the Swiss expedition of Alexander Suvorov (1799) and the 220th anniversary of the completion of the operation to capture Corfu on March 3, 1799 by Admiral Fyodor Ushakov.

The event will be attended by students of the St. Petersburg Suvorov Military School, the Nakhimov Naval School, the St. Petersburg Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia; Cadet Fire and Rescue Corps of the St. Petersburg University of the State Fire Service of Emercom of Russia, veterans - graduates of cadet educational institutions.

Students and graduates from cadet schools of Moscow, Sevastopol, Murmansk, and Vladivostok will join the event via video-conferencing mode.

The event will be broadcasted live in “Live Broadcasts” section on the Presidential Library’s portal and in the official group of the institution in VKontakte social network.

 

Accreditation of media representatives is available until 15:00, April 2, 2019.

Please note that the admittance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior request and upon showing a passport: participants and guests of the event pass through entrance № 1, media representatives pass through entrance № 2.
