Dostoevsky’s “unfinished novel”

October 4, 2019 the next lecture from the cycle devoted to the life and career of Dostoevsky will be held in the Presidential Library as part of “Knowledge of Russia” video lecture. The topic of the meeting will be a discussion of the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky “The Brothers Karamazov”: its philosophical meaning, as well as new idea about the history of the work. The event will begin at 11:00 and will be available live on the Presidential Library’s portal and in the official group of the institution on the VKontakte social network.

The lecture will be delivered by a leading researcher at the Institute of Russian Literature of the IRLI RAS (Pushkin House), Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor Konstantin Barsht.

The Brothers Karamazov is the last novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, which the author has been wiring for two years and completed it two months before his death.  The video lecture will provide a new version of the philosophical and artistic understanding of one of the most significant works of the great Russian writer, and the guests of the Presidential Library will be able to see digitized electronic images of Dostoevsky's manuscripts.

Earlier, Konstantin Barsht already presented to the guests of the Presidential Library his research related to the famous novel Crime and Punishment in Dostoevsky’s drawings, he talked about the novel The Poor Folk by Fyodor. Dostoevsky - the first original printed work written in 1844–1845, he studied “the search for the protagonist of the novel “The Idiot” in the materials of the draft entries of the writer.
