May 26, 2021, at 14:00 the Presidential Library will host a series of events organized jointly with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The program of the meeting at Senate Square, 3 will begin with the opening of an electronic exhibition by Rossiyskaya Gazeta photojournalist Nikolai Gernett "New Earth: Passing Memory", organized with the support of the Northern Maritime Museum of Arkhangelsk and the Russian Arctic National Park.

In August 2020, Nikolai Gernet took part in the expedition of the Northern Fleet, the Russian Geographical Society and the Russian Arctic National Park, which was tasked with finding traces of the pioneers of the Arctic, adding their biographies with new facts, and recording changes in the points of Novaya Zemlya. In the course of this work, several places, captured by famous polar artists, were discovered.

The exposition at the Presidential Library will feature photographs by Nikolai Gernet, as well as drawings by Tyko Vylka and Alexander Borisov, slides by Nikolai Pinegin, an artist, writer, member of the Sedov expedition, from the unique collection of the Northern Maritime Museum of Arkhangelsk.

Exchange of copies of a new agreement on cooperation between the Presidential Library and the editorial office of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta will take place at the event. The document was signed by Director General of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta editorial office Pavel Negoitsa and acting Director General of the Presidential Library Pavel Tereshchenko.

Fruitful interaction of organizations has been developing since 2012. The first cooperation agreement between the Presidential Library and the editorial board of Rossiyskaya Gazeta was signed in December 2016. Joint projects such as multimedia exhibitions, video lectures, presentations of new issues of Rodina  popular science and history magazine and others have been implemented during this time.

The event on May 26, 2021 will continue by watching a video recording of the Presidential Library's webinar "The Image of the Arctic and Antarctic in Diaries and Memories" followed by an exchange of views on the perception of the Arctic.

Participants and guests of the meeting will also be able to learn about another project of the Presidential Library on the Arctic theme - an exhibition of one photo. A photo of Vladimir Pushkarev “The Chapel on Bely Island (Kara Sea)”, provided by the press service of the Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area has been transferred to the tapestry by the Uzor Vyritsa Tapestry Factory. Thanks to a special QR code, one has opportunity to visit the Presidential Library’s portal, where the original photo and audio file "Point on the map - Bely Island" is presented. It tells about the chapel built on the island in memory of the death of the BD-5 convoy in the Kara Sea. One of the war dramas of the Great Patriotic War is refracted through the decades through the photo and commentary on it.
