Meeting with the known Danish writer Peter Hoeg will take place in the presidential library

5 September 2017

Creative meeting with Peter Hoeg / Høeg, the author of such best-selling books as “Smilla’s Sense of Snow,” “Silence,” and others, will take place on September 5, 2017, at 10:30 pm in the Presidential Library. The writer, who is called the most eccentric figure in modern Danish literature, is known for his extreme dislike for publicity, but has responded to an invitation to come to Russia to see and to talk with his readers.

Peter Hoeg was born in Copenhagen on May 17, 1957, in 1984 he graduated from the University of Copenhagen, majoring in Literature. Before he became a writer, he tried a lot of classes: he taught the Stage Art, was a classical ballet dancer, a fencer, a sailor, and actively traveled. The novel “Smilla’s Sense of Snow” (originally, “Miss Smilla’s Feeling for snow”) brought world fame to Hoeg, which his readers, apart for the detective plot, sharply twisted intrigue, sense of style and understanding of contemporary life, have also appreciated for a precise rendering of human passions in all their diversity. Today, books by Peter Hoeg are published in millions of copies in more than 30 countries around the world.

Representatives of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Denmark in St. Petersburg, the Danish Institute of Culture in St. Petersburg, the faculty professors of St. Petersburg State University, representatives of the “Symposium” will attend the event.
