The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Prague hosted the final round of the All-Czech Olympiad in the Russian language for pupils of Czech schools. The Olympiad has been held annually for more than 30 years by the National Institute for Continuing Education of the Czech Republic on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. Since 2017, the RCSC in Prague after a long break has become the official co-organizer of this contest.

The Russian language in the Czech Republic is included in the program of basic, secondary schools and gymnasiums as a second foreign language. Currently, it has been studying by more than 80 thousand Czech students.

40 winners of the regional rounds of the contest participated in the finals of the contest in three categories: SŠ I (for those who learn Russian less than three years), SŠ II (for those who learn Russian more than three years), SŠ III (for those who learn Russian as second native or, who communicates on it outside the school).

The jury of the contest included leading Czech philologists led by the head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education of the Masaryk University (Brno) Simona Korychankova and the teacher of the Chair of Russian Studies and Linguistics at Charles University (Prague), Yakub Konechny.

The Olympiad was opened by the acting head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Czech Republic, Andrei Konchakov. He welcomed the organizers and finalists, wished the participants successful completion in the contest and in the further study of the Russian language, which would open for them a rich culture of Russia.

For those arriving in Prague for the finals of the Olympiad Czech teachers of Russian philology were held presentations at the Russian Language Courses at the Russian Center for Science and Culture. Thanks to them teachers learned about the activities of the RCSC in Prague to support the study of the Russian language in the Czech Republic, the programs for improving the qualifications for teachers, the possibilities for studying in Russia, and taking exams in Russian as a foreign language for the international certificate at the RCSC in Prague. Organizers of the Olympiad and teachers of Russian philology highly appreciated the restoration of the tradition of holding the final round in the walls of the RCSC in Prague.
