Exhibition «The Charm of Football» launched in Vladimir

On June 4 Vladimir Regional Scientific Library opened a book-illustrative exhibition "The Charm of Football".

The exhibition spotlights the materials, which explain why Vladimir had been chosen the cultural capital of the 21st FIFA World Cup 2018.

It presents publications about famous football clubs, legendary football players, engaging and unusual world championship records and selected books about football coaches. The publications feature the book by the Soviet football player and analyst Alexander Bubnov, "Forwards" by Lev Filatov, as well as a photo album dedicated to the “leaders" of Soviet football - Lev Yashin, Oleg Blokhin and Igor Belanov.

One of the sections of the exhibition focuses on the history of football in Vladimir and «Torpedo» football club. There are archival photos taken during memorable «Torpedo» games in different years, as well as books which tell about the history of the club's foundation and give overview of its games. Among the authors are Vladimir sports columnist V. Yudenich, V. S. Romodanovsky and M. Furman.

The exhibition includes poems about football by famous poets, sheet music of football marches and songs, reproductions of works by Deyneka, Malevich, and Rukavishnikov.

Special interest among the exhibition’s guests is attracted to unique football attributes: symbols of different world championships, balls with autographs, players’ sports uniforms and scarves of fans.

The presented materials will engage the attention of those who take an interest in this sport game. The exhibition is opened until 15 July.

There is «Vladimir Region: Pages of History» collection available on the website of the Presidential library that focuses on the region. The selection includes studies, bibliographic publications, graphic materials and sound recordings, which reflect certain aspects of socio-economic, socio-political, territorial and cultural development of the region since the 10th century. An effective Charter of Vladimir Region is available too.
