55th anniversary of the space flight of Valentina Tereshkova, the world’s first woman-cosmonaut, celebrated in Slovenia
The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Ljubljana hosted the evening marking the 55th anniversary of the space flight of Valentina Tereshkova, the world's first woman-cosmonaut. On June 16, 1963 having performed the orbital flight on the “Vostok-6” spacecraft Valentina Tereshkova began the era of female cosmonautics.
Guests of the evening had a chance to acquaint themselves with the photo exhibition "Space rise of “Chaika (Seagull)", focusing on the world's first woman cosmonaut. It featured a lot of so far little-known photos telling about the life of the legendary heroine of the space.
Of particular interest was the recorded address of the first woman-cosmonaut, State Duma deputy Valentina Tereshkova, who told her colleagues about the flight on the “Vostok-6” spacecraft 55 years ago. She confessed that every time she visits Baikonur, she checks the tree planted by Yuri Gagarin.
Voiko Kogey, the Chairman of the Slovenian "Vladimir Komarov Club" and the Head of the project-travel to the Star City, shared his impressions of the recent meeting with Valentina Tereshkova in Baikonur.
The documentary "I always look at the stars", produced to mark the 80th anniversary of Valentina Tereshkova, which was celebrated in 2017, was shown at the end of the evening.
