Center of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library was opened in the city of Kirishi in Leningrad Region. It is housed in the Kirishi Сentral Library (Sovetskaya Street, 31), which is part of the Inter-settlement cultural and educational center of the Kirishi district.

Participants of the event were representatives of the administration of the Kirishi district, cultural and educational institutions. Acting Director General of the Presidential Library Valentin Sidorin in his welcoming speech noted that "the opening of the remote center of access is only the beginning of joint activity of the district administration and the Presidential Library. Within the framework of the concluded cooperation agreement, new projects will be planned".

The head of the administration, Konstantin Timofeev, in his turn, said: "it is a great step forward in the work of the Inter-settlement cultural and educational center of the Kirishi municipal district. All Kirishans can use the remote access, regardless of age, profession, sphere of interests. In addition, teachers of educational institutions can bring new and interesting ideas to the educational process, which means that it will be interesting to our children to receive knowledge".

Now residents of the city of Kirishi gain access to unique collections of the Presidential Library. Yulia Neuimina, director of the Inter-settlement Cultural and Educational Center, noted the special importance of this event: "The Kirishans received a unique opportunity to get familiar with almost 640 thousand documents, including a collection of rare books, documents, cinema and photo materials. Thanks to this, they will be able to take part in cinema lectures, research and practice videoconferences, Olympiads and contests initiated and arranged by the Presidential Library".

Of great importance to readers is the fact that the Presidential Library's main collections are the digital copies of the originals of historical documents. This is especially valuable for researchers who are concerned with the reliability of the sources used. In particular, the Presidential Library has collected unique materials about the famous natives of Kirishi – the Bestuzhev brothers.

In addition to traditional book editions, the electronic collections contain archive materials, periodicals, multimedia content, cartographic and musical publications, rare manuscripts.

It’s worth to remark that the partnership relations between the Presidential Library and Leningrad Region have been actively developing. The agreement signed on September 23, 2014 between the library and the regional government promotes the development of joint educational and cultural projects, the exchange of experience, the strengthening of the ideas of statehood, citizenship and patriotism in the public consciousness. At the moment, 18 institutions of culture and education of Leningrad Region are linked to the resources of the Presidential Library.
