The exhibition in the S. A. Yesenin State Museum-Reserve in Slovenia

8 November 2018

The Central Library of the city of Celje is featuring a unique exhibition “My land, thoughtful and tender ...” about the life and work of S. A. Yesenin, organized with the support of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ljubljana.

A special spirit of the exhibition is given by things from the stock collection of the S. A. Yesenin State Museum-Reserve (village Konstantinovo of Ryazan Region). Some of them were part of the furnishings of Yesenin’s parental home in Konstantinov: a towel, a shirt, a spindle, and a jug. The guests' interest was aroused by the personal belongings of the mother of the poet T. F. Yesenina.

The event was highlighted with poems and romances by Sergey Yesenin in Russian and Slovenian languages, performed by high school students from the Celje-Center gymnasium.

As part of the opening of the exhibition, the Celje Library received as a gift from the museum-reserve a full edition of S. A. Yesenin's works in nine volumes and from the RCSC - a collection of magazines on literature and culture of Russia.

The Presidential Library’s electronic collection contains a number of materials on the life and work of Sergei Yesenin: books, photographic postcards, the video lecture “Sergey Alexandrovich Yesenin in the dialogue of cultures”, research papers devoted to his work, and most importantly, memories from people from the poet’s closest circle. The Presidential Library’s portal features the memoirs “Yesenin’s Life” (1926) by Sofia Vinogradskaya, a journalist who worked in the Pravda and Izvestia VTSIK newspapers, as well as the book “Memoirs about Yesenin” (1926), a close friend of the poet Anatoly Mariengoff .
