The Presidential Library to present exhibition devoted to the Great Patriotic War in Moscow

24 June 2019

Electronic historical documentary exhibition of the Presidential Library “Victory Roads. Marking the 74th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War" will run in the media center of the Moscow Zaryadye Park on significant dates for our country: from May 8 to 10 - in honor of the Victory Day of the Soviet Army in the Great Patriotic War, on June 22 - in honor of Memorial Day - the day of the start of the Great Patriotic War and June 24 - in honor of the military parade of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on June 24, 1945.

More than 50 slides will tell about the main strategic operations of the Great Patriotic War: the defence of Leningrad, the battle for Moscow, the Berlin operation and others.

The electronic exhibition is based on digital copies of archival documents, TASS photo chronicles and posters of the Great Patriotic War from the collections of the Presidential Library and the National Library of Russia. Visitors to Zaryadye Park, in particular, will see the handwritten text of a speech on the radio by Commissar of Foreign Affairs of the USSR V. M. Molotov on June 22, 1941, a letter from US President F. D. Roosevelt to I. V. Stalin about sending diplomas to Leningrad and Stalingrad, a diploma to the city of Leningrad, signed by the head of the United States, campaign posters of wartime, rare film and photo chronicles and much more.

Residents and guests of the Russian capital also had the opportunity to visit the exposition: the exhibition was held at Zaryadye on the days of the celebration of the anniversary of the Great Victory from May 8 to 10, as well as on the Day of Memory and Sorrow on June 22.

The Presidential Library has extensive experience in implementing such projects. So, in 2015, residents and guests of the Russian capital could get familiar with the materials of the exhibition “We won because we were united”, timed to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and received numerous positive reviews.

The Presidential Library actively develops cooperation with the Moscow park and the largest cultural and educational center. On September 28, 2018, the parties signed a cooperation agreement. On December 12, an exhibition of one exhibit was open at Zaryadye. It showcased the only digital copy of the inaugural copy of the Constitution, presented to the Presidential Library by the President of Russia.

The Presidential Library’s portal features a major electronic collection “The Memory of the Great Victory”, which includes official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, propaganda articles, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of combatants and rear workers, their personal documents and many other things.
