
The Presidential Library awarded the best medical workers of the Admiralteisky district
On June 10, 2019 the Presidential Library hosted an event to celebrate the Medical Worker Day, organized jointly with the Administration of the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg.
The event was attended by representatives of the Administration of the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg, the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and medical organizations of the district.
In the course of the meeting, the winner of the St. Petersburg Government Prize “Best Medical Worker of the Year with Secondary Professional Education” was awarded to the nurse of the Polyclinic No. 28, Natalia Ukolkina, as well as the winners of the medical competition of the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg “Man of the Year”. Representatives of organizations that are actively involved in the development of medical care in the area were awarded with “Help and Mercy” signs.
In addition, during the event, the presentation of a book on the history of medical organizations of the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg and the calendar “Help and Mercy: Sisters of Charity in Open Letters of 1914–1918” took place.
Director General of the Presidential Library, Ilya Bykovnikov, welcomed all those present, noting that today the institution has gathered people "every day facing problems and pain that patients come to them with".
“I wish each of you health, professional success and creative growth”, - he added.
Sergey Solovyov, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, shared his personal observations on communication with doctors. According to him, despite the hard work, these people are always cheerful and optimistic.
“The Admiralteisky district is rightfully called the cradle of health care - well-known medical institutions appeared here where famous doctors work”, - said Svetlana Shtukova, head of the Administration of the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg. “Today we are honoring those who continue their noble cause, saving the lives and health of people”.
Let us add that the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg provides the oldest medical institutions of the country - Obukhovskaya and Alexandrovskaya Hospital, Maximilianovskaya hospital, clinic of St. Nicholas and others.
The first public hospital, the first community clinic of the polyclinic plan, the first children's hospital and the first clinic for newborns and premature babies, the first blood transfusion, the first point of care for mothers and babies - the initiatives that originated here have widely stepped outside the Admiralteisky side, serving the organization of the entire health care system not only in St. Petersburg, but the whole of Russia.
Outstanding doctors and organizers of medical affairs worked in the Admiralteisky district of St. Petersburg. They are the founder of the midwifery art Nestor Ambodik, the outstanding therapist and innovator Yakov Sapolovich, the founder of the Russian surgical school Ivan Bush, the founder of pediatrics Stepan Khotovitsky, the genius Russian surgeon Nikolai Pirogov, the prominent Russian psychologist, neuropathologist and physiologist Vladimir Bekhterev, creator of the scientific system of physical education, Peter Lesgaft, founder of the Russian scientific school of venereology Veniamin Tarnowski and many others.
