The Presidential Library joins the IFLA World Congress in Greece

27 August 2019

As part of the 85th IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) General Conference, which will be held on August 24-30, 2019 in Greece, the Presidential Library will present the results of its work over 10 years.

At the stand of the Russian Library Association, the Presidential Library will provide a video about the decade-long history of the Presidential Library as well as a virtual tour of the historic building of the Synod, which today houses the institution. Thus, participants and guests to the event will be able to see the interiors of the Presidential Library of 19th century and visit its Electronic Reading Room, where users have the opportunity to study materials on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, the Russian language and many other topics.

The poster of the Presidential Library “Educating Librarians: Professional Training for Change” will be presented at the traditional poster session within IFLA. It focuses on the opportunities that our institution offers for library professionals. Visitors to the event can use poster’s QR code to visit the Presidential Library’s portal and learn more about the projects implemented by the Presidential Library. Taking into account the venue of the IFLA Congress this year, the participants will take an interest in “Russia - Greece: the History of Relationship” digital collection. It contains copies of research studies of the XIX - XX centuries, the works of Greek scholars and theologians, archive materials, modern official documents devoted to the history of Orthodoxy in Greece, the evolution of the Greek language, as well as historical, cultural and diplomatic relations between our countries.

The Presidential Library will also present a project for preparations for the events marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory: the development of an electronic collection, including materials on the work of librarians during the war in the Soviet Union and the features of the multimedia presentation of this project.

This year, everyone can join the opening ceremony of the Congress, which will be held on August 25 online on the Congress’s website and on social networks (hashtag #wlic2019).

We wish the Presidential Library’s delegation a good work at IFLA!
