
Slovenia hosted “Memory of the Great Victory” International Conference
“Memory of the Great Victory" International Conference was held on December 5, 2019 at the International Research Center of the Second World War in the city of Maribor (Republic of Slovenia), in the building where the Nazi concentration camp during the war was located, in which more than 5 thousand Soviet prisoners of war died. This conference is the seventh conference held by the MIC in the last two years.
The conference was attended by the Charge d'Affaires of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Slovenia G. I. Zamyatin, Director General of the Velikanov State Central Museum of Modern History as well as the heads of museums and historical societies, cultural figures, veterans of the Second World War, representatives of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ljubljana, veteran and non-governmental organizations, researchers and publicists from Russia and Slovenia.
In the course of the event was held a film screening of the film directed by Alexei Kozlov “Save Leningrad” (2019).
The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation with the support of the Russian Embassy in Slovenia and the RCSC in Ljubljana.
Since 2011, the Center of Remote Access to Information Resources of the Presidential Library has been opened at the RCSC in Slovenia. The guests of the center can learn about the materials of the Memory of the Great Victory electronic collection, as well as with the materials of the collection The Defence and Siege of Leningrad. The collections include official documents, photographs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, publications of a propaganda nature, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of participants in military battles and rear workers, their personal documents and much more.
