Inter-regional online quiz “PROChekhov” to hold in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

On January 28, 2020, an interregional online quiz “PROChekhov” is to be launched at the regional center of the Presidential Library of the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library. The online quiz is making the 3-anniversary dates: the 160th birthday anniversary of A.P. Chekhov, the 130th anniversary of his journey to Sakhalin and the 125th anniversary of his book “Sakhalin Island” publication.

The goal of the” PROСhekhov” online quiz is to raise interest in the life and work of A.P. Chekhov, the great Russian writer, and playwright.

The quiz was arranged by the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library in cooperation with the other libraries: Y. Franko’s Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library, Gorky’s Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library, M. Y. Lermontov’s Penza Regional Library with the Presidential Library participation.

Every resident of Sakhalin, the Republic of Crimea, Volgograd, and Penza regions in the age from 14 to 18, can participate in the quiz.

The website of the Presidential Library will allow preparing for the intellectual tournament by using its collection “Sakhalin Region: Pages of History”, which contains information on the development of the territory of the Sakhalin Region - the unique Russian region, that completely located on the islands. The content is presented in the form of travel essays, geographical and historical descriptions of the mid-19th - early 20th centuries, as well as fragments of the 1929 newsreel.
