4 June 2020

Marking the holiday of chemical industry specialists, the Day of the Chemist, which is celebrated on the last Sunday of May, the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library has prepared a virtual exhibition "Chemical Sciences in the Presidential Library". A multimedia project with active links introduces the most interesting materials from the Presidential Library.

One of the original digitized sources is the work of Viktor Vasilyevich Danilevsky “Dmitri Mendeleev and the Urals" (1944). Dmitry Ivanovich studied not only chemistry, but also interested in the mining industry, dreaming of the general industrialization of agrarian Russia. Among the applied areas actively studied by Mendeleev were oil and glass production, livestock farms and how to mechanize them, the oil industry, aeronautics and much, much more.

More information about Sverdlovsk Region is available on the website of the Presidential Library in a separate collection, which includes electronic copies of studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries. The materials highlight the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the region.
