International Youth Day celebrated in Ulan Bator
August 12, 2020, the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ulan Bator hosted an event timed to coincide with the International Youth Day.
The guests were told about the history of the holiday, which was established by the UN General Assembly on December 17, 1999 at the suggestion of the World Conference of Ministers for Youth Affairs, held in Lisbon on August 8-12, 1998. Participants of the event also learned that today there are 1.2 billion young people in the world aged 15 to 24, that is, 16 percent of the world's population.
In addition, at the festival, Mongolian youth got familiar with the modern vocabulary of the Russian language with great interest: the organizers of the event showed the guests excerpts from the popular film "Peter FM".
At the suggestion of the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Mongolia, Amgalan Bazarkhandayev, a number of initiatives to attract young citizens of Mongolia and Russian compatriots temporarily and permanently residing in Mongolia to participate in social projects have been launched.
An important resource for studying Russian culture in Mongolia is electronic collections of the Presidential Library: since 2015, a remote electronic reading room has been opened at the RCSC in Ulan Bator. The special collection "Russia - Mongolia: From the History of Relationships" includes studies, essays, archival and other materials that spotlight certain aspects of Mongolian life, the history of diplomatic, military and economic ties between Russia and Mongolia during the 13th – 21st centuries.
