The opening of the remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library took place in the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia - an integral part of the Republic of Moldova - on January 9, 2021. Now it is possible to get access to the collections of the institution, which contain about a million depository items (electronic copies of books and periodicals, archival documents, audio and video recordings, photographs, scientific and educational films, dissertation abstracts and other materials) in the Draganov Regional Library.

The Presidential Library and the Draganov Regional Library signed a cooperation agreement at the end of 2020. Opening a remote electronic reading room is just the first step in a great collaboration. Institutional representatives noted that follow-up activities would focus on document exchange, project implementation and public events.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the thematic collection Russia - Moldova: The History of Relationships, which includes publications dedicated to the history of the peoples of Moldova-Bessarabia, including during the period of its entry into a common state with Russia. Within the framework of cooperation it is planned to replenish this collection with new unique materials.

The number of readers and geography of the Presidential Library are growing regularly. The remote electronic reading room in Gagauzia became the 43rd opened abroad - the centers of access to the resources of the Presidential Library are open in 30 countries. More than 1,000 remote electronic reading rooms are open in all 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
