The history of the Russian Church Abroad in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes / Yugoslavia told about in Belgrade

The Volga Orthodox Institute hosted a joint online lecture of the Faculty of Philology of Belgrade University and the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Belgrade entitled “History of the Russian Church Abroad in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes / Yugoslavia” as part of the series of events “School of the Trubetskoy Foundation”.

The event was hosted by Doctor of Philology, Professor Irina Antanasievich. The participants learned about the history of the formation of the Russian Church Abroad, the history of the influence of the Russian emigration on the changes in the Serbian Orthodox Church, the history of the shrines kept in the Russian monasteries of Fruska-Gora.

The lecturer also spoke about the participation of Russian architects and icon painters in the construction of temples in the Kingdom, about the history of the construction of the Holy Trinity Church in Belgrade and the Iverskaya Chapel at the New Cemetery, about the role of Russians in the preservation of the Vysokie Decani Monastery in Kosovo.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collections History of the Russian Orthodox Church and Orthodox Russia. Monasteries and Icons dedicated to the history of the formation of the Russian Orthodox Church, the fate of individual Russian Orthodox monasteries and especially revered icons.

The Presidential Library’s portal contains only a part of the unique digitized materials. Thay are available in full in the national electronic depository and in the remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library opened in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation and in 30 countries abroad.
