Cosmonautics Day at the Regional Centre of the Presidential Library in the Republic of Bashkortostan

6 April 2021

Marking Cosmonautics Day, which is annually celebrated on April 12, the Regional Centre of the Presidential Library in the Republic of Bashkortostan at the Ahmet Zeki Velidi National Library arranged a virtual exhibition "Per Libros ad Astra".

The digital resource tells about the history of the research of outer space, introduces famous pilots-cosmonauts, and recommends thematic literature.

The Exploration of Outer Space section comprises a bibliographic list of recommended literature on cosmonautics and astronomy from the collections of the National Library and links to thematic literature from the Presidential Library's collections and the "Biblioskola" electronic library system.

The Pilots-Cosmonauts section of the virtual exhibition provides materials about the most famous pilots and cosmonauts (articles, documentaries).

The Useful Links section broadcasts real-time video from the International Space Station. It also promotes an interactive map of the Solar System and a navigator of the night sky map and other interesting links.

The quiz Per Aspera ad Astra is intended for the most curious users.

The virtual exhibition "Per Libros ad Astra" complements the Presidential Library's collection Outer Space. It features fragments of newsreels, periodicals, books, postcards, commemorative medals and badges that highlight milestones in astronautics history.

A separate collection on the Presidential Library's portal is devoted to the Republic of Bashkortostan. It includes studies, essays, archival documents, statistical, cartographic, photo and audio materials revealing the socio-economic, socio-political and cultural development of the Republic of Bashkortostan in the XVIII-XXI centuries.
