
The project "Regional Lecture" on the site of the Altai Regional Center of the Presidential Library
November 25, 2021 the Regional Center of Access to the Resources of the Presidential Library based on the Shishkov Altai Regional Universal Scientific Library hosted an event dedicated to the world famous German naturalist, traveler Peter Simon Pallas, whose 280th anniversary is celebrated this year.
The cultural and educational project "Regional Lecture" is a traditional educational event of the Altai Regional Center and is carried out with the aim of promoting the Presidential Library’s collections. In full-time format it involved students of the Altai State Institute of Culture. More than 50 schoolchildren listened to the lecture online.
Vadim Borisovich Borodaev, a researcher at the Laboratory of Historical Local Lore at Altai State Pedagogical University, spoke about the life and career of the researcher, about the reasons why he was in the service of the Russian state and became famous for scientific expeditions to Siberia and southern Russia.
The meeting considered documents from the electronic collection dedicated to Peter Simon Pallas. The collection includes digital copies of research (scientific articles and monographs), spotlighting the texts of the historian's works in Russian, German, Latin and French, as well as biographical materials about him in Russian and Bashkir languages. At the moment, the collection includes 60 items. It contains materials from the collections of the Krupskaya Astrakhan Regional Scientific Library, the Akhmet-Zaki Validi National Library of Republic of Bashkortostan, the National Library of Republic of Buryatia, the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library and the Gorky Tver Regional Universal Scientific Library.
