
The history of St. Petersburg and Russia in the memoirs of Nikita Blagovo presented at the Presidential Library’s video lecture
On January 25, 2022 at 11:00 the Presidential Library will host a video lecture of the Knowledge of Russia project “Pages of History through the Eyes of a Petersburger: Nikita Blagovo”.
The event is timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the educator, founder and director of the Museum of School History Karl May, organizer and founder of the national orienteering school.
Nikita Vladimirovich Blagovo - a native of an old noble family, was born in Leningrad on January 9, 1932. Engineer, Master of Sports of the USSR in tourism, specialist and consultant-teacher in genealogy. He is the author of nine books and 175 newspaper and magazine articles, and has been in charge of the Museum of the History of the Karl May School for more than a quarter of a century.
For many years, Nikita Vladimirovich has been a great friend of the Presidential Library, he participates in cinema club meetings and video lectures. The author's books are presented in the electronic collections of the institution.
At the video lecture, the hero of the day will tell about the main stages of his life, about the blockade childhood and the post-war era, about the famous classmate - cosmonaut Georgy Mikhailovich Grechko, colleagues - academician Dmitry Sergeevich Likhachev and writer Daniil Aleksandrovich Granin.
Alexander Gorodnitsky, a Soviet and Russian geophysicist, poet, friend and associate of Nikita Blagovo; honorary worker of general education, teacher of school No. 323 of the Nevsky district, head of the teenage and youth club "Patriot" Tatyana Kochetkova; candidate of philosophical sciences Yuri Malyshev; Ekaterina Nizhegorodova, an employee of the Sinaya Ptitsa Library, and others were invited to a meeting at the Presidential Library.
The video lecture is free. The meeting will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library's portal in Live broadcasts section in accordance with the program of live events and on the institution's YouTube channel.
Interactive lessons and video lectures are regularly held at the Presidential Library. They are available on the institution's portal in the Multimedia lessons section and in the Video lecture to school section, as well as on the Presidential Library's YouTube channel, where records of past lectures and open lessons are presented.

Entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only by prior registration and upon showing a passport: for media representatives - through entrance № 2, participants and guests of the event - through entrance № 1.
In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
