The Presidential Library attended the conference in Syria

On June 15, 2022 the Presidential Library attended the scientific and practical conference "Russia - Syria: Cultural and Educational Basis for Cooperation" in Damascus held by the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.

The Presidential Library’s representatives told about the institution's collections, their experience in disseminating knowledge about Russian history and statehood, learning the Russian language, and the possibilities of opening remote reading rooms.

The event also presented the collection Russia-Syria: the History of Relations formed by the Presidential Library, which is publicly available on the institution’s portal. The collection includes scientific research, ancient land surveys, reference and archival materials, modern official documents dedicated to Syria and spotlighting the history of state, economic and cultural relations between Russia and Syria from the 19th century to the present day.

The Presidential Library provides digitization of books and periodicals, archival documents, newsreels, photographs, scientific and educational films, abstracts of dissertations, as well as other materials spotlighting the centuries-old history of Russian statehood, the theory and practice of law, the Russian language as the state language of Russia. At the moment, the volume of the collections of the institution is more than a million depository items.

Full access to the Presidential Library’s collections is organized in St. Petersburg, on Senate Square, 3, in the Reserve Center in Moscow, a branch of the Presidential Library in Tyumen, through a network of remote access centers opened in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as in foreign countries. In total, today the number of access centers to library resources exceeds 1,400.

On the eve of the scientific and practical conference "Russia - Syria: Cultural and Educational Basis for Cooperation", on June 14, 2022, a remote electronic reading room with access to the resources of the Presidential Library was solemnly opened at the Russian House in Damascus.

The Presidential Library pays much attention to educational cultural and educational projects, including multimedia lessons, excursions, cinema club meetings, video lectures and much more.

The Presidential Library presented an educational project in Syria - the Olympiad for schoolchildren Russia in the Electronic World. During the existence of the Olympiad - since 2010 – it involved over 50,000 students. The Olympiad is traditionally held in the following subjects: "History", "Social Studies", "Russian Language", "Russian as a Foreign Language". As part of the event, Syrian students who reached the finals of the Russia in the Electronic World Olympiad in the 2021/22 academic year will be awarded.

The logical continuation of the topic of educational and cultural activity of the Presidential Library was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of cultural cooperation with the Al-Assad National Library.
