The Presidential Library discussed the events of the Great Patriotic War through the eyes of different generations

On July 22, 2022 the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture titled “The Great Patriotic War through the eyes of writers and schoolchildren of the XXI century” as part of the cultural and educational project Knowledge of Russia.

Teacher and writer Georgy Kayurov told about his works dedicated to the people who survived the Great Patriotic War.

These stories touch upon the main values of life – kindness, respect, duty, freedom and love. The works of Georgy Kayurov allow readers to look at themselves through the eyes of those who, having lived through the hardest trials, have maintained the best human qualities.

As part of the lecture that was especially interesting for teachers of high schools and secondary vocational education institutions, the participants discussed the ways of using the writer’s compositions in the work with students. The literary method and style of the writer were discussed as well.

Georgy Kayurov’s cycle of tales, dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, was nominated for the Russian Federation National Award named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov. For several years, teachers in different regions of the country have been conducting extracurricular readings of his works in various formats, such as literary living room, theatre studio, literary newspaper, contests and essays.

Georgy Kayurov also teaches contemporary Russian literature and literary craft in foreign universities. Within the framework of the lecture, listeners will have an opportunity to learn about the response of the foreign students to Russian literature and the ways the writer’s teaching work contributes to its popularization.
