
Music from famous films performed in the Presidential Library
On October 31, 2022, the Presidential Library hosted a creative meeting with the composer, conductor, member of the Union of Cinematographers and Composers of the Russian Federation Vladislav Panchenko. The event was held in conjunction with the St. Petersburg open display of creative works "Ekranizatsiya".
Participants and guests of the meeting learned about the important artistic role of music in cinema, saw episodes from films where the music of Vladislav Panchenko is performed, and were able to ask the composer questions they were interested in.
Vladislav Panchenko is the author of music for more than 80 films. Among them are such well-known and loved by the audience feature films as “Peculiarities of the National Hunt” (1994), “Operation Happy New Year!” (1997), “Peculiarities of the National Fishing” (1998), “Checkpoint” (1998). The composer also writes music for documentaries awarded at many film festivals: "Construction" (1989), "Alexander Nevsky Lavra. XX century" (2009), "Leningradka" (2013), "Maruska" (2016) and others.
The meeting also featured live music performed by the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base, with which Vladislav Panchenko has been collaborating since 1996.
The cinema club meeting was attended by head of the acting department of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television, director Nikolai Schneider; documentary filmmaker, screenwriter, writer Alexander Bogatyrev; Head of the Military Orchestra Service of the Western Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Gernets; Honored Artists of the Russian Federation Alexey Emelianov, Evgeny Ganelin, and others.
