Donbass through the eyes of a military photojournalist. Exhibition by Vladimir Anosov opened at the Presidential Library

The Presidential Library hosted the “Donbass-2022” front-line photo exhibition. Its author is Vladimir Anosov, photojournalist of Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The exhibition has been prepared with the support of the Union of Journalists of Russia.

The photographs capture the events of recent months from Mariupol, Donetsk, Volnovakha, Lisichansk, Luhansk and other Russian cities. These are the photographs that the author of the exhibition took while on the front line: the front line and the rear, the Russian military and residents of dilapidated cities returning to civilian life, tears of losses and faith in victory...The most benign photographs in the 12+ category were selected for the exhibition.

Director General of the Presidential Library Yury Nosov in his speech emphasized that the exhibition "Donbass-2022" is important and timely. He recalled that the institution's collections contain a variety of materials on military topics, and the main task of the Presidential Library is to preserve the history of Russia based on documents and archive materials, without speculation and distortion of historical facts. The exhibition of war correspondent Vladimir Anosov is also a document - an eyewitness account.

The difficulties of the work of war correspondents and Vladimir Anosov were told by his colleagues - Anzhelika Gurskaya, director of the North-Western branch of Rossiyskaya Gazeta, war correspondent Vladimir Ladny, director of the South Office of Rossiyskaya Gazeta, war correspondent Anna Kovaleva.

Vladimir Anosov – a former career military man, reserve major. He graduated from a military school, served in aviation, participated in two Chechen campaigns. He came to journalism after his dismissal from the ranks of the Armed Forces, worked in the Krasnodar media. As soon as the special military operation began, Vladimir Anosov wrote a statement asking him to be sent to Donbass.

For the first time, an exhibition of his photographs was opened in June 2022 in the Moscow edition of Rossiyskaya Gazeta, then, entered with new works,  - in Krasnodar, in September, participants in the XXIVI Forum of Contemporary Journalism "All Russia - 2022" in Sochi, in October, the exposition was presented at the House of Journalists in St. Petersburg. After being shown at the Presidential Library, the exhibition will be sent to Leningrad Region, and then to other regions of the North-West.

Active cooperation of the Presidential Library with Rossiyskaya Gazeta has been developing since 2012, when the North-Western Branch of the newspaper began providing information support for events, exhibitions and other events in the Presidential Library. The institution’s collections contain digitized copies of the Rodina illustrated popular science and history magazine, a subsidiary of Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The photographs of war correspondent Vladimir Anosov will also enter the Presidential Library’s collections and everyone will be able to learn about them.
