The Presidential Library spotlighted international relations of Russia in the era of Peter the Great

On November 24, 2022 the Presidential Library hosted an International scientific conference “International Relations of Russia in the era of Peter the Great. Marking the 350th anniversary of the birth of the Russian Emperor Peter I”. The event was co-organized by the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The conference was timed to coincide with the 350th anniversary of the birth of the first Russian emperor, who played a significant role in the history of the state. The activities of Peter I led to fundamental changes in all spheres of the life of the country and society.

The event, which was held in a face-to-face format, spotlighted topics that were of interest not only to specialists. It was about the Great Embassy of 1697-1698, diplomatic relations with the countries of Europe and the East, interaction with foreign countries in the field of culture and science. Separate speeches were dedicated to the leaders and figures of Russia's foreign affairs agencies; foreigners in Russia and Russians abroad, as well as how Russia was perceived through the eyes of Europe and the East in the era of Peter the Great.

As a result of the event, a collection of research papers was published with the assignment of a DOI identifier to its materials and their inclusion in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).
