The book exhibition at the Regional Center of the Presidential Library presents the formation of Sverdlovsk industrial enterprises

From April 3, 2023 the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Universal Scientific Library hosts the book exhibition “Ural Character. Industrial enterprises. Labor dynasties and mentors”. The exposition is dedicated to Sverdlovsk industrial giants.

The Presidential Library’s materials are among the exhibits including the publication "The History of the USSR: Album of Visual Aids" (1939).

The exhibition involves two sections. One of them - "Plants" - tells about the formation and success of various enterprises in the Middle Urals. The second section - "Factory People" - is dedicated to the Ural labor dynasties, biographies of honorary factory workers.

More information about Sverdlovsk factories is available in archival documents on the Presidential Library’s portal. Thus, for example, the Collection of Digitized Archival Documents, Film and Photo Materials “World War II in Archival Documents” includes the Decree of the State Defence Committee of the USSR on the extension of the Decree of the State Defence Committee of February 21, 1942 “On urgent measures to help ferrous metallurgy” to the Verkh-Isetsky Metallurgical plant of the People's Commissariat of Electrical Industry and the Decree of the State Defence Committee of the USSR of January 4, 1942 on assigning the name "Uralmashzavod" to the Ural Heavy Engineering Plant in the city of Sverdlovsk.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History. It includes statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries that spotlight various aspects of the development of the region.
