The Presidential Library spotlighted the most effective rhetorical devices in political discourse
On April 24, 2023 the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture "Rhetorical devices in political discourse". This was the final video lecture which was held as part of the cycle dedicated to the Year of the Russian Language as the Language of Interethnic Communication in the CIS countries. The project has been developed by the Presidential Library in order to tell about topical issues of Russian studies and the problems of the development of the Russian language in the world.
How rhetorically rich is the political media communication? What techniques are used in modern political discourse? These questions will be answered by Associate Professor of the Russian Language Department of St. Petersburg State University, Candidate of Philology Irina Anatolyevna Mitrofanova. She will talk about correct speech techniques that are needed for politicians and media people in their speeches in order to convince a dissenting opponent or audience in the controversy unfolding in Telegram-channels and the media. Particular attention will be paid to certain speech techniques.
The event is available on the Rutube-channel of the institution.
