The Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia and the Presidential Library signed a cooperation agreement

On May 25, 2023 a cooperation agreement was signed between the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and the Presidential Library subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation. The document was signed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov and Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova.

The agreement was signed at the Presidential Library as part of the All-Russian Coordinating Council of Commissioners for Human Rights which was held from May 23-25 in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region.

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, noted: “We have not only signed an agreement, but also outlined a specific action plan in order to increase the level of legal education and create opportunities for more effective work on lawmaking. These are the two main directions of our joint activity in accordance with the federal constitutional law”.

Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov emphasized: “The subject of this agreement is the establishment of partnerships in the field of legal education, as well as the study of experience in the formation of an effective information and legal space that ensures the improvement of legal literacy and culture, legal awareness and socialization of citizens”.

The agreement involves joint educational activities on human rights and freedoms, thematic forums, conferences, workshops, round tables, book exhibitions and other events. The agreement also provides for interaction in the exchange of information, replenishment of the library systems of the parties with publications and special literature on the problems of protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, joint expert-analytical and research work, etc.

The Presidential Library, having the status of the National Library of Russia, is a nationwide electronic repository of digital copies of the most important documents on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood. The library collections, which involve more than a million depository items, contain abstracts of dissertations on the institution of the Commissioner for Human Affairs in the Russian Federation, including its competence, constitutional and legal status, structural, organizational and functional features, etc.
