The Presidential Library to share its experience at the All-Russian Library Congress

June 12, Russia Day, will host the opening of the All-Russian Library Congress: the XXVII Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association (RBA). This is the key and largest event of the year in the library sector, which traditionally involves the Presidential Library. This year, the event will be held from June 10-17 in Murmansk - the "Library Capital of Russia in 2023". The topic of the congress is "Library - the Cultural Code of Russia".

The main goals of the congress are to determine the main trends in the development of librarianship and to form the image of the library of the future. The event is open to representatives of all types of libraries, information institutions, specialized universities and their partners, regardless of membership in the RBA.

The professional program of the congress includes meetings of sections and round tables of the Russian Library Association, which will raise issues of the role of libraries in the preservation and dissemination of spiritual and moral values, the formation of the country's cultural code based on the Russian language and reading, the development of a creative environment in the space of modern libraries, the transformation library services in the digital age, the professional qualities and competencies of a modern librarian, the importance of libraries and library public associations in the context of modernity and many others.

Traditionally, since 2010, experts from the Presidential Library have been actively involved in the work of sections and round tables of the RBA. This year they will tell how the Presidential Library is represented in library associations and unions; about promotion and replication of the best regional practices of remote access centers. They will also share their experience in retraining personnel to solve the problems of the “Strategy for the Development of Library Science...” in the field of integrating cultural heritage resources, and will join a discussion about the theory and practice of developing library technologies. There will be held presentations such as “The Library as a Tool of Soft Power in the Information Confrontation between Russia and the West”, “Library Science and the Challenges of the Electronic Environment” and others.

The 2023 Congress is timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of Murmansk Region, the 85th anniversary of the Murmansk State Regional Universal Scientific Library, the 55th anniversary of the Makhaeva Murmansk Regional Children and Youth Library.
