The Presidential Library and the Sirius Federal Territory signed an agreement on joint projects

On June 15, 2023, a cooperation agreement between the Presidential Library subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and the Sirius Federal Territory was signed at the St. Petersburg stand at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, and Elena Shmeleva, Chairman of the Sirius Council. The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of Olga Lyakina, Deputy Head of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.

The main purpose of the agreement is long-term partnership between the parties aimed at preserving and popularizing the scientific heritage of Russia, implementation of joint educational and scientific-educational projects using the information resources of the Presidential Library, identification and support of talented youth, development of information technologies in librarianship in the Sirius Federal Territory.

It is planned to develop cooperation in the following priority directions: involvement of intellectual and creative youth and talented children in science and education; formation of interest in research activities, promotion of scientific knowledge, assistance in professional orientation; increasing the prestige and social attractiveness of research work; dissemination of scientific knowledge, increasing the prestige of science and popularization of science and technology achievements; implementation of scientific and educational activities aimed at the formation of respect for Russian history; strengthening the ideas of citizenship and patriotism in the public consciousness.

The agreement provides for the organization and hosting of joint conferences, workshops and exhibitions on the history of Russian statehood, as well as cooperation in the framework of the annual Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World, which the Presidential Library holds on history, social studies, Russian language, Russian as a foreign language.

It is planned to provide access to the Presidential Library’s collections in the Sirius Federal Territory. In turn, materials will be handed over to the Presidential Library, including scientific research by scientists of the Sirius University of Science and Technology, to which the widest access to users around the world will be provided through remote electronic reading rooms of the library.

The Sirius Federal Territory is located in the Imereti Lowlands in the mesopotamia of Mzymta and Psou, surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains and a unique nature reserve. The 2014 Winter Olympics took place here; on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Sirius Educational Centre for talented children from all over the country was created on the basis of the Olympic heritage sites. Now, the Sirius University, the Presidential Lyceum, modern laboratories, cultural and sports infrastructure are also developing here. Not only children study there, but their teachers and mentors do as well. Scientists create innovative developments using the broad capabilities of the Scientific and Technological Centre, and engineers are working on its application in urban space. National standards are being created in educational, scientific, cultural, sports and other fields, which will be applied throughout the country in the future. The open federal project Sirius promotes the discovery of talents of people of different ages in the interests of the whole of Russia and each of its residents.
