The Presidential Library and the TASS News Agency develop cooperation

On June 16, 2023, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the TASS News Agency and the Presidential Library signed an agreement on cooperation and interaction, according to which the library will become a provider of visual content for the agency’s media bank. The document was signed by Ilya Lazarev, Director of Visual Content at TASS, and Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, in the presence of Sergey Grinevich, Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.

“It is very important that cooperation between organizations is actively developing – further joint activities will be aimed at preserving the historical and cultural heritage, the Russian language as the state language of Russia. Mutual exchange of resources and information cooperation will continue to provide access to digital copies of documents, as well as materials on the history and practice of Russian statehood. We hope that the signed agreement will contribute to the implementation of new joint projects”, Sergey Grinevich said.

The joint work will be aimed at preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Russia and the Russian language. According to the agreement, digital copies of documents on the history of Russia, theory and practice of Russian statehood and issues of the Russian language from the library’s collections will be handed over to the TASS media bank and thus become available to a wide audience.

“I am pleased to announce that the Presidential Library is becoming a content provider for the TASS media bank. Thousands of unique archival photographs and videos, documents and other materials from the library’s collections will be available to TASS clients in Russia and abroad for editorial and commercial use”, Ilya Lazarev said after the signing.

Today, the TASS media bank has almost 43 million pieces of content. These are modern photos and videos from TASS correspondents, infographics, archival photographs from the beginning of the 20th century, as well as materials from the agency’s partners.

“Cooperation with TASS has been actively developing since 2014. During this time, numerous joint projects have been successfully implemented. They include the digitization of TASS photo archives, the opening of remote access centers to the library’s resources at the TASS central office in Moscow and at the TASS regional centre in St. Petersburg. We hope that cooperation with the largest agency in the country will expand and strengthen”, Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, said.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, organized by the Roscongress Foundation, takes place from June 14 to 17. TASS acts as an information partner of the SPIEF.
