Library lessons for senior pupils resumed at the Tyumen branch of the Presidential Library

27 September 2023

Library lessons for senior pupils have resumed at the Tyumen branch of the Presidential Library. The first students in the new academic year were tenth-graders of the municipal autonomous educational institution secondary school № 48 in the city of Tyumen named after Hero of the Soviet Union Dmitry Mikhailovich Karbyshev.

Teachers of this school traditionally ask specialists from the branch of the Presidential Library in Tyumen Region to organize educational events using the library’s information resources. Senior pupils annually attend library lessons at the branch and actively join online events of the Presidential Library, including the interactive Olympiad “Russia in the Electronic World”. Thanks to the involvement of schoolchildren in library events, they have repeatedly become finalists and prize-winners of the Olympiad.

During the lesson, at the request of the children, the branch's bibliographers dwelt in detail on the new textbooks on general history and Russian history for grades 10–11. Listeners learned which collections of the Presidential Library were included in a single history textbook, learned about the page of the portal Lesson Scripts, which contain active links to archival materials, and also opened the lesson script “Domestic culture during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945” where they looked at photographs from the Collection of digitized archival documents, film and photo materials of the Presidential Library World War II in Archival Documents.

Teachers noted the advantage of the new textbooks: all participants in the educational process received simple and quick access to reliable information (primary sources), which makes it possible to establish cause-and-effect relationships of important historical events.

The new academic year has just begun, and the bibliographers of the branch of the Presidential Library have many more lessons to teach for schoolchildren in Tyumen Region.
