
The Annual Integration Forum of the Presidential Library opened in Yekaterinburg
On September 28, 2023 the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library as part of the Annual Integration Forum of the Presidential Library hosted the opening of the XIV Scientific and Practical Conference “Cultural Heritage: Integration of Resources in the Digital Space”.
The organizers of the event were the Presidential Library, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Union of Museums of Russia, the Russian Library Association, the Ministry of Culture of Sverdlovsk Region, the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library.
In her greeting to the conference participants, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Nadezhda Prepodobnaya, emphasized: “The annual integration forum of the Presidential Library is a key platform for discussing the consolidation of library, archive and museum information resources into a single space. By raising these issues, the Presidential Library fulfills an important mission that meets, among other things, the objectives set out in the Strategy for the Development of Librarianship until 2030”.
In his turn, President of the Russian Library Association, Director of the State Public Historical Library of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Afanasyev, noted that “from the very first days of its existence, the Presidential Library declared itself as a collector of cultural heritage in digital form by forming its collections from electronic copies of printed publications, archival documents, and as a leader in understanding these processes, and as a methodological center for all of us who, in one way or another, preserve cultural heritage and work with digital space”.
According to Director General of the Presidential Library, Yuri Nosov, “the annual integration forum is an important discussion platform where not only issues of digital development of libraries are discussed, but also current problems of digitalization of cultural heritage carefully preserved by libraries, archives and museums”.
Yuri Nosov congratulated Yekaterinburg, the capital of the Urals, with which the Presidential Library has had many years of cooperation, on its 300th anniversary. In honor of this significant event, within the framework of the XIV Scientific and Practical Conference “Cultural Heritage: Integration of Resources in the Digital Space”, the electronic collection of the Presidential Library dedicated to the history and culture of Yekaterinburg was presented, and a round table “Digital services and products marking the 300th anniversary of Yekaterinburg” was held.
On the same day, an on-site round table “Digitalization and new competencies in the field of culture” was held in the city of Berezovsky.
On September 29, 2023, a plenary session of the X All-Russian annual retreat with the heads of regional centers and partners of the Presidential Library “Interdepartmental partnership as a priority for the regional development of the Presidential Library” was held in Yekaterinburg. The meeting was held with the support of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District. At the plenary session, the fundamentals of the regional development strategy of the Presidential Library for the period until 2030 was presented. As part of the event, a remote access center to the resources of the Presidential Library was opened at the Institute of Education of Sverdlovsk Region.
In addition, the round tables “Museums: Problems of Preserving and Updating Historical and Cultural Heritage in the Digital Environment” and “Archival Institutions in the Digital Space: Trends and Development Prospects” were held in Yekaterinburg on September 29.
In St. Petersburg, the Presidential Library hosted the round tables Fortresses of the North-West and Outstanding Russian Teachers and Mentors: St. Petersburg Vector.
Within the framework of the round table Fortresses of the North-West were discussed the history of fortifications of the North-West of Rus' in the 9th–15th centuries, the creation of fortifications in the North-West of Russia in the 18th century, archaeological research of fortifications of the North-West, issues of preservation and restoration of monuments Russian defensive architecture.
During the round table Outstanding Russian Teachers and Mentors: St. Petersburg Vector, issues of the history of public education in Russia were addressed, including the history of individual educational institutions, biographies of outstanding domestic teachers and mentors, and the contribution of representatives of the Romanov dynasty to the development of Russian pedagogy.
