
The Presidential Library attended the annual meeting of heads of Russian libraries
On November 28, 2023 the Presidential Library attended the Annual Meeting of the heads of federal and central regional libraries of Russia “We are creating a successful future for libraries by working together: industry projects, interaction, integration, exchange of best practices”. The organizers of the event are the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Library, the National Library of Russia with the participation of the Russian State Children's Library.
The meeting took place in one of the buildings of the Russian State Library - the Pashkov House - and brought together managers and specialists of the country's libraries. Particular attention was paid to national, departmental, industry and corporate projects; digital transformation, artificial intelligence, neural networks for libraries; acquisition and disclosure of collections; modern forms of organizing work with readers; research and educational activities of libraries; integration of libraries of new constituent entities of Russia.
In his video message, Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov noted: “We are all united by strong friendly ties and numerous joint projects, common goals and objectives to form a single information space in the field of the history of Russian statehood, strengthening spiritual and moral values among young people”.
The Presidential Library pays much attention to preserving historical memory and countering the falsification of history.
The library's collections are in demand by society. This is evidenced by the fact that Internet links (QR-codes) to the information resources of the Presidential Library were included in history textbooks for senior pupils. And in one click, all readers can access collections of documents and materials on our portal. “Using the Presidential Library's resources allows us to strengthen the educational component in the educational process. This is our contribution to the mechanism for implementing Decree 809 of the President of the Russian Federation”, - emphasized Yuri Nosov.
The Presidential Library actively supports scientific research in the library field. By tradition, the library has established a special nomination in the All-Russian contest of scientific works in library science, bibliography and bibliology. In the category “Best scientific work in the field of integration of information resources” the winner was a team of authors from the State Universal Scientific Library of Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Therefore, the Presidential Library’s authoring team was awarded a diploma from the Russian Library Association for the publication “Archival materials in the library catalogue: a scientific and practical guide”. The authoring team includes Yulia Selivanova, Tatyana Maskhuliya, Maria Stegaeva, Lyubov Zavyalova and Olga Zhlobinskaya. The project manager is Elena Zhabko.
The annual meeting was also attended by heads and representatives of the State Public Historical Library of Russia, the Main Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Library for Youth, the Rudomino All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, the Krupskaya Donetsk Republican Universal Scientific Library, the Gorky Lugansk Republican Universal Scientific Library, the Azov Central Library, the Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library.
The cultural mission of modern libraries cannot be overestimated. They are designed to preserve the book heritage, make it as accessible as possible, support the culture of reading, and strengthen cooperation between countries as a whole. The Presidential Library is active in all areas and is ready to be developed in accordance with modern trends.
