The Presidential Library - a participant in the Fifth Scientific and Practical Conference “Letter and Digit”

10 April 2024

The Presidential Library joins the Fifth Scientific and Practical Conference “Letter and Digit: Libraries on the Path to Digitalization” (“BiblioPiter-2024”). The event is held in St. Petersburg from April 9 to April 11, 2024.

The conference is designed to unite the efforts of libraries, educational, information and scientific institutions of various departments in the development and effective use of new approaches, methods and technologies in the library, information and educational digital environment.

Managers and specialists of the Presidential Library regularly join the scientific and practical conference “Letter and Digit” and share their work experience with colleagues. This year, specialists of the first electronic national library joined the scientific and practical session “Transformation of the functions of a modern library in the digital environment: formation and management of collections, services and scientific and methodological activities”.

Director General of the Presidential Library, Yuri Nosov, at the opening of the session, noted that an effective way to organize interaction with a modern user was to include QR-codes with links to relevant thematic resources in textbooks for educational institutions, scientific, educational and other publications.

The Presidential Library already has successful practical experience in such work. Internet links (QR-codes) with links to library resources enter unified textbooks on Russian history and world history for high school students. The Presidential Library became the first library in the country which materials are placed in a textbook and immediately become available to readers with one click. According to Yuri Nosov, this practice is “an effective solution to the issue of countering the dissemination of unreliable historical information - one of the most important components of library work in our time”.
