From Christianization of Rus' to Present Days. Watch films, video lectures and webinars with Presidential Library

From July 22nd to 28th, the Presidential Library will be hosting a series of events on the TV channel section of its portal, including films, video lectures, and webinars, covering the topics of the Christianization of Rus', the beginning of World War I, and the Day of the Russian Navy.

Among the events, there will be a webinar dedicated to Mikhail Lermontov, who is celebrated on his memorial day on July 27th. Lermontov was compared to Lord Byron and was predicted to have a brilliant literary career. His writings, drawings, and biographical sketches will be discussed, as well as publications from ancient periodicals that shed light on the life and work of the renowned poet.

On the same day, a video lecture will be shown titled The Level of the Human Personality in Mikhail Lermontov's Novel 'The Hero of Our Time'.

The video lectures The Foreign Policy of Prince Vladimir the Saint on the Eve of the Christianization of Rus', The Civilizational Choice of Holy Prince Vladimir of Kiev, and The Choice of Byzantium of Russia have been timed to coincide with the Day of Christianization of Russia, celebrated on July 28th. Users will learn about the reasons that led Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich of Kiev to choose Orthodoxy as the state religion.

The webinar Holy Places of Russia will explore documents from the Presidential Library's collections, including publications about monasteries, biographies of abbots, church periodicals, and guides to churches and monasteries.
