In 1944, Soviet troops defeated Nazi German troops in the USSR, marking the end of the war. The Stalin's Ten Blows were a series of large-scale offensive operations that played a significant role in achieving victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). One of the most significant events of this period was the complete liberation of Leningrad from Nazi siege. These operations led to the liberation of the entire territory of the USSR from fascist occupation.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of these important historical events, the Presidential Library held discussion on the significance of 1944 as a turning point in the struggle against Nazi Germany. It was focused on the events that occurred at the front, foreign policy, and Soviet society during this year.
On the day of Stalin's Ten Blows conference at the Presidential Library, visitors had the opportunity to explore the multimedia exhibition Photographic Chronicle of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad.
