First stage of "Russia in the Electronic World" Olympiad in history, social studies, and Russian language closing up
On December 2nd, 2024, the first phase of the Olympiad Russia in the Digital World, organized by the Presidential Library and the National Research University - Higher School of Economics, will come to an end. The competition takes place from September 23rd, 2024 until March 20th, 2025, in three different subjects - history, social sciences, and the Russian language. Students in grades 10 and 11, as well as those studying in secondary vocational arts institutions, are invited to participate.
During this Olympiad, students from Russia and other countries will have the opportunity to try their hand at all subjects or choose the one they are most comfortable with. The results will be determined based on individual performance. Winners and medalists will receive diplomas, while those who achieved the best results will receive additional points for admission to National Research University - Higher School of Economics.
The competition consists of three stages. The first two stages are held remotely from September 23, 2024 to December 2, 2024 and December 20, 2024 to January 24, 2025 respectively. The final stage will take place in person from March 18 to March 20, 2025.
Participants who have already participated in the Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World the previous academic year and are currently studying in organizations that provide educational programs in basic and secondary general education (in the form of home education or self-study), as well as those studying abroad or in secondary vocational educational programs in Russia, may also participate in the final round.
The finalists from the previous year's Olympiad who are now studying in any of these educational settings are eligible to participate. Petersburg and Leningrad region will meet at the Presidential Library - in the historic Synod building at Senate Square, 3, as well as at the remote electronic reading rooms of the library, including its Tyumen branch. Children from other regions will also participate in the event.
The tasks of the Olympiad are developed based on materials from the electronic library collections, which contains over a million digitized copies of rare documents that form the historical and cultural heritage of our country. These materials are available on the official portal, where participants can study the resources of the library and answer the questions as fully and accurately as possible in the competition.
In addition, the guys can practice by looking at the tasks from previous years that are posted on the website in the Archive section. The main goal of the competition is to introduce students to working with archival sources on the history and theory of Russian statehood, as well as to find and support young talents and popularize humanitarian knowledge among young people.
It should be noted that during the last academic year, over 2,500 schoolchildren and students from the Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Kurgan, Kemerovo regions, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, the Donetsk People's Republic, and other regions of Russia participated in the competition. Since 2010, tens of thousands of children from various regions of Russia have taken part in this interactive educational project, many of whom have later enrolled in top Russian universities.
