Specialists of Penza Regional Center of Presidential Library organized intellectual tournament called "Russia. 19th Century"
On November 29, 2024, the specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library, organized a historical tournament called Russia. 19th Century. The participants were students of computer science college.
The tournament aimed to test the students' knowledge of the history of Russia, as well as its national painting, music, and literature. All of the tasks were related to the 19th century.
During the tournament, the students took part in various rounds. In the first round, they had to complete a "Warm-Up for the Brain", solve a crossword puzzle, and answer questions based on historical facts. They also had to compare important dates and events from the 19th century using their knowledge.
In the second round, the participants demonstrated their knowledge of Russian literature by guessing the names of famous authors based on their biographical facts and recalling the plots of school fiction.
Finally, in the third round, the students showed their expertise in Russian painting by identifying the works of famous artists and their styles.
During the musical tour, romances and famous arias from operas by Russian composers were performed. This turned out to be challenging for the participants, as not all the works were familiar to the young people. The organizers note that this is why the educational aspect of such events is so important.
All the assignments were prepared based on materials from the Presidential Library and the Penza Electronic Library. The organizers consider it very important for students to familiarize themselves with the resources of these libraries. QR codes with links to thematic sources from these libraries could help the participants answer the tournament questions.
The team Glory of Russia won the event, which was held under the Pushkinskaya Card program.
The collection Penza Region: Pages of History is available on the Presidential Library's portal. It includes archival documents, essays, research, and other materials that cover various aspects of the region's development throughout different historical periods.
