Exhibition of Chinese paintings and calligraphy held at Russian Cultural Center in Beijing

15 January 2025

Fans of Chinese painting gathered at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing to experience the atmosphere of the Chinese New Year - the Spring Festival (Chunjie).

The event was attended by artists and calligraphers who presented more than 50 works in various genres, including calligraphy, landscape painting, and mountain and water compositions. All the works were dedicated to the theme of Russian-Chinese friendship.

Tatiana Urzhumtseva, the head of the Russian Cultural Center, welcomed the audience and emphasized the significance of the exhibition as a unique opportunity to appreciate the expressive spirit of Chinese traditional art. She also presented commemorative diplomas to the artists for their contributions.

Then, the exhibition space filled with the scent of ink as a calligraphy master class began on stage. Under the strokes of Chinese artists' brushes, laconic New Year's wishes for good luck, joy, and happiness were created one after another.

The Presidential Library's electronic reading room, opened in 2010 at the Russian House in Beijing, allows guests to explore all the diverse collections in the library's holdings.

Visitors to the Russian Cultural Center may be interested in the Russian Language collection from the library's digital holdings. It includes over 1,100 rare archival items, including manuscripts, Russian writing monuments, archival files, scientific papers, dictionaries, reference books, textbooks, and more.

Guests of the Russian House can also learn about the history of relations between Russia and China by accessing materials presented in the Presidential Library's electronic collection Russia - China: the History of Relations.
