Kurgan Regional Center of Presidential Library celebrated 5th anniversary of its opening

The Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based on the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library, celebrated its 5th anniversary. The anniversary events opened with a large regional methodological meeting The Regional Center of the Presidential Library in the Kurgan Region – 5 years of development, where they summed up the work and discussed future plans.

Together with representatives of the Presidential Library, the meeting was attended by staff of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, library partners and specialists from its electronic reading rooms.

Artem Pushkin, Chief Federal Inspector for the Kurgan Region of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, and Natalia Kirillova, Deputy Governor of the Kurgan Region for Social Policy, greeted the audience.

Ilya Demakov, Director of the Gorchakov Lyceum of MGIMO, spoke via video link. Maria Kolchedantseva, head of the regional branch of the Movement of the First, and Olga Serdyukova, director of the Kurtamysh Special educational institution of a closed type, spoke about cooperation with the Regional Center of the Presidential Library.

An exhibition of publications dedicated to the Great Patriotic War and the Kurgan region during the war years was organized for the anniversary. The exhibition was complemented by QR codes with links to the thematic collections of the Presidential Library.

It should be noted that over the past 5 years, the Kurgan Regional Center of the Presidential Library has opened more than 30 electronic library reading rooms in the region, digitized more than 170 rare local history publications from the collections of the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library, and implemented more than ten major projects for schoolchildren and students, including a large–scale regional local history Olympiad. My Land, which annually attracts thousands of young Trans-Urals residents.

To date, more than 1,400 electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library have been opened in the Russian Federation and abroad. Their visitors can get acquainted with all the diversity of the library's collection, which contains hundreds of thousands of digitized copies of rare archival documents reflecting the history of our country and its cultural heritage, as well as become participants in various projects. Electronic reading rooms are open on the basis of National Libraries and Representative Offices of Rossotrudnichestvo.

The collection Kurgan Region: Pages of History is available on the Presidential Library's portal. It includes archival documents, statistical essays, research, cartographic and other materials covering various aspects of the region's development in different historical periods.
